Life’s still busy, but I (somehow!) fit in a little reading and finished Katherine Reay’s novel, The Printed Letter Bookshop.
I’ve reviewed several of Ms Reay’s books in the past (here, here and here), so I knew I’d enjoy whatever she had in store for me. 😉
The Printed Letter Bookshop is women’s fiction at its finest and exceeded my reading expectations. This heartfelt redemptive story, teeming with life’s difficulties, follows the lives of three women—Madeline, Claire and Janet—who struggle to survive different, yet hauntingly similar, circumstances and trials.
Following the death of her aunt Maddie, Madeline inherits a bookshop in the quaint small town of Winsome, where she meets employees Claire and Janet. With all three women sharing their point of view, written in different tenses, we get to experience what’s really happening at the Printed Letter.
With book references and quotes sprinkled throughout, from classic novels to Biblical Scripture, this story wrapped around my heart and clung tight. I revelled in journeying with these brave ladies, watching their transformations despite mounting difficulties.
This novel was a beautiful reminder to treasure those in our lives, and when life throws us challenges, we can overcome any obstacle with God, good friends, and good books on our side.

Until next time,
