When I’m not reading heavy women’s fiction, hilarious romcoms, or heartwarming romances, I like diving into a good romantic suspense novel—especially when it’s packed with heart-pounding action, swoony romance, and characters I need to see “win”. So when I started Robin Patchen’s Christian romantic suspense series, The Wright Heroes of Maine, I knew I’d struck gold.
Four-and-a-half books in, and I’m officially hooked. (Although, technically I was hooked from the first chapter of book one, but that’s beside the point!) I’m halfway through book five, Protecting You, which is a fabulous addition to the series!
The first four books follow a different Wright brother, each finding himself tangled in dangerous situations, intense emotions, and faith-testing journeys.
Running to You is an amnesia romance and a brilliant start to the series! Sam and Eliza’s story is packed with action, emotion, and enough twists to keep you glued to the pages. There’s so much between them—secrets, past mistakes, and gut-wrenching revelations—that it wouldn’t have surprised me if they’d walked away from each other. Mixing Sam’s intense, driven, and sometimes volatile personality with Eliza’s layered depth and her slow-recalling memory felt like a bonfire waiting to spark. But watching them fight for their relationship despite every obstacle? So worth it. Add in high-stakes suspense, a fast-paced plot, plus small nods to other books by Ms Patchen, and this was an absolute winner.
Rescuing You is a do-or-die globetrotting romance with more tension than a busy grocery store on a Saturday morning. Having met Michael in Sam’s book, I had high hopes for his story—but he exceeded every expectation! His and Leila’s chemistry was palpable, especially when they argued. A feisty, stubborn and independent heroine paired with a CIA operative who thrives on controlling his environment? Fireworks! Despite the danger, stress and downright terrifying situations Michael, Leila, and her twin sister, Jasmine, endured, their faith shone through, wrapping the story in a powerful thread of hope.
Finding You is another thrilling romantic adventure, this time with an archaeological twist. Unlike the previous heroes with military backgrounds or deep-pocketed resources, Bryan and Sophie are civilians navigating danger with their expertise and quick thinking. The shift in perspective made the story feel even more intense, especially when the action ramped up. And let’s be real, seeing these two “ordinary people” with self-worth and relational hang-ups caught in extraordinary circumstances? Completely gripping. Their trust in God to see them through was also deeply encouraging.
Sheltering You is a romance between two people from opposite worlds. Derrick and Jasmine’s story blends heart-stopping suspense, significant cultural differences, and a slow-burn romance into an absolute page-turner. Jasmine’s decision to shield Derrick from knowing too much about her past—including her pregnancy, thanks to her psychotic terrorist husband—and their realistic communication struggles added layers to their relationship and upped my sympathy for Derrick. Paired with more edge-of-your-seat action, swoony kisses, and a wonderful supporting cast of Wrights I already loved, this faith-filled story had me fully invested.
