I’m a self-professed Becky Wade fan. I gushed about her writing last year when I reviewed the first two books in her Sons of Scandal contemporary romance series. (If you’re unfamiliar with these wonderful stories, see my reviews here.)
So, imagine my joy when I was blessed with an advanced copy of the series’ last instalment…!
🥳 *Cue excited squeals and an impromptu jig*
Ms Wade’s new book comes out this Valentine’s Day, and I can’t wait for you to love Max and Sloane (and Sloane’s niece, Ivy!) as much as I do.
Uneasy Street is a superb second chance Christian romance which follows Max—Jeremiah and Jude’s half-brother, the heroes in the previous stories—and Sloane, Max’s ex-best friend/business partner.
Ms Wade delicately navigated a minefield of wounds from childhood traumas, grief, rash decisions and coping mechanisms, and weaved a pain-filled story for Max and Sloane to journey together. Despite their initial animosity, I loved the banter, especially Max’s underhanded tactics early on.
This novel ticks the “Sweet Romance” box, but there’s also family drama throughout the series. As in the previous books, several scenes unfold through Fiona’s—Jeremiah and Jude’s mum’s—point of view. We also glimpsed Ivy’s thoughts, which added a satisfying layer to the overall story and, on multiple occasions, served as a bridge between Max and Sloane.
Uneasy Street ties up this complex family saga with a satisfying conclusion.
Have you read any of the Sons of Scandal romances?
Until next time,
