Have You Met Dora Hiers?

I’ve been part of Dora Hiers’ reader group since before I was a published author. I don’t recall exactly how we connected—probably through a recommendation in another author newsletter I follow—but I’m so glad I found her and her books (and yes, I’ve reviewed quite a few!).

We live on opposite sides of the world, yet we’ve exchanged many emails over the years. As a reader, I always found her kind and responsive. As a fellow author, she’s been supportive and generous with encouragement. I count her among my favourite “author friends”.

If I had to choose one word to describe Dora, it would be sweet—like the Christian romances she writes. I’ve read nine of her series so far, each one unapologetically faith-filled, drawing readers to God through stories of hope, healing and redemption. But her latest series, A Love for Every Season? It’s burrowed even deeper into my heart.

If you’ve read my blog (or my books), you’ll know I love a little grit in my romances. Whether it’s a tragic backstory or a mountainous, messy situation to navigate, I appreciate some “real-life” in my fiction. This series delivers just that.

Dora has given each of the Season sisters a tragic, gritty backstory—but she’s written their journeys with incredible care and sensitivity. Though the sisters face steep hurdles and deep hurts in their respective stories, Dora’s quintessential sweetness still permeates the pages, softening each painful revelation as their journeys unfold.

Autumn’s Daddy kicks things off with a heartfelt, faith-filled second chance romance. Autumn and Riggs’s story is layered with grief, hope, and hard-won healing. Their shared past adds both weight and depth, but it’s Autumn’s transformation—learning to see her world through “Jesus-coloured lenses”—that stuck with me most. And Riggs? The humble, kind-hearted firefighter won me over by the end.

Spring’s Pact follows with a best-friends-to-more romance that beautifully blends friendship, trauma, and trust. (Fun fact: I reviewed this back in February… and totally forgot! Clearly it’s been a busy year! 😂)

Spring and Beckett’s relationship is full of swoony and deep emotional moments. They met in a group home as kids, so their shared past is both painful and bonding. It’s Beckett’s unwavering patience and quiet, protective love that makes this story shine. He doesn’t push—just stands beside her, helping her feel safe as she confronts the wounds of her past.

Summer’s Reach is the newest release—a slow-burn romance between two people deeply wounded by those who were supposed to love them.

Summer and Krew’s romance is a beautiful reminder that love begins with our Heavenly Father. A rescuer of abandoned, abused and neglected animals—and a survivor of abuse herself—Summer shines with quiet strength and compassion. Krew carries his own emotional scars, but his steady kindness and respect for Summer bring them closer with each passing chapter.

I’m looking forward to Winter’s story when it releases! Have you read any of Dora Hiers’ books? Let me know in the comments below.

Until next time,
