I celebrated my birthday over the weekend, and although many believe “with age comes wisdom”, I still struggle with where I should centre my focus each day.
For instance, I have a writing deadline, and am happy to report I’ve written another 6,000 words of Tara’s story over the last couple of days. Yay!
We’re also a home and on-campus schooling family enjoying the last day of our winter school holidays. This means the school run recommences for the older three girls tomorrow, and educating my two younger girls will become my daytime focus.
Australia is thirteen days into a new financial year, and Mr Wonderful and I run a small business. So I’ve recently spent more time than I prefer setting up new files, spreadsheets, working on budgeting, and planning cash flow for the next six months.
I also have ‘the usual’ tasks any occupant of our planet takes part in: eating, sleeping, interacting in society. So, how do I do it all?
I don’t.
Not that I enjoy airing my dirty laundry (literally!), but this is me keeping it real. I’m one person, and despite my powers of delegation, some sections of life suffer when I focus on other priorities. Like everyone else, I wear many hats. And like most people, I drop one (or ten). Often.
And that’s okay.
I know I’m not perfect, but I’m grateful to live a grace-filled life because of Jesus. He’s the Superstar helping me fulfil my calling and responsibilities each day.
I like what Paul wrote in second Corinthians:
He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Most gladly therefore I will rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest on me.
2 Corinthians 12:9 (WEB)
Jesus knows I mess up, and He still loves me. That’s all the comfort and courage I need to press through each day.
Until next time,
